For a long time, I didn't realized how important it was (or that you needed to) remove your makeup before actually washing your face. As it turns out, if you don't remove your makeup, the product you are using to wash your face is not actually doing what it should be doing. It is acting as a makeup remover and it is not fighting your breakouts. And if you have oily acne-prone skin like I do, than this is a major problem. There are several different methods that I have heard of for doing this:
1) washing your face twice - which may work, I have never really tried it in the long run, but I when I do this I feel like I am just wasting my facial cleanser and it feels like I am drying out my skin
2) Using facial wipes to remove makeup - not going to lie I do this a lot, but it really doesn't work that well. I find that after I use one, wash my face, and then use toner on a cotton pad I still end up getting makeup residue. So although they do remove makeup, it also just removes a lot of the makeup around on your face.
So, after learning and trying all of this, I went in search of a product to actually remove my makeup and decided to try Neutrogena's All-in-One Makeup Removing and Cleansing Lotion.
The Cleansing lotion is supposed to remove all kinds of makeup and is oil and alcohol-free. It claims to leave skin, soft, smooth and free of pore-clogging residue. And a major bonus to this product is that is supposed to be for all skin types.
I have only been using this product for about a week, but I am really liking it so far. The lotion consistency is great and it does leave my skin feeling soft like it says it will. It also removes my waterproof mascara. When I use it I like to massage it onto my face and then wipe away my makeup with a cotton pad. I then give my face a quick rinse with water to make sure that I have cleared away all of the product.
In the future I think I would like to try some of the cleansing waters that are out there, but I am a little intimidated by the price of them. Let me know in the comments if you have tried any and if you think they are worth the hype!
